Solvay Road fly-tippers leave Northwich street full of rubbish

Rubbish dumped in Solvay Road Rubbish dumped in Solvay Road

A STREET in Winnington recently blighted by fly-tippers has again been targeted again.

Solvay Road, which is privately owned, has been hit by the fly-tippers who have dumped mattresses, sofas, furniture, carpets and general waste.

However it is not the first time the road has been in the news.

Philip Johnson, of Solvay Road, contacted the Guardian in April to say the bins had not been emptied for a month but it seems that now, despite regular collections the street has become a target for rubbish dumpers.

Mike McGivern, spokesperson for Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: “The road is private land and the landlord informed us he would be clearing it up on Wednesday.

“One of our officers is going out to check if the work is being done.”

The landlord told the council he was happy for the work to be carried out and he said he was getting a contractor in to clear the street.

He was true to his word and the street was cleared on Friday.
