TRIBUTES have been paid to a well respected vet who was trampled to death by cows while on holiday in the Yorkshire Dales.

Liz Crowsley, principal vet at The Willows Veterinary Hospital, in Hartford, was walking her two dogs on the Pennine Way when the incident happened on June 21.

It is thought that the herd of cows, some of which had calves, became aggressive at the sight of the 49-year-old’s two dogs, a brown and white spaniel and a border collie.

Readers have been leaving their tributes to Liz on the Guardian’s website north wichguardian.co.uk.

Heather, from Hartford, said: “Deeply saddened to hear this, a tragic accident, Liz was the vet for my dog, and a great one at that, she will be greatly missed at Willows Vet group.

“Thanks for caring.”

Peter Andrewartha, from Weaverham, said: “It’s so sad.

“I’ll remember her for saying how beautiful our new cat was when I saw her last year.”

Amanda, from Northwich, said: “Such a terrible tragedy.

“Liz has been my vet for as long as I can remember (10 years or so).

“I held her in great esteem, a very caring, professional lady, and I’m sure she will be missed by many.

“I will most definitely miss her.”

Carol, from Northwich, said: “I was so saddened to hear the news about Liz.

“She was such a fantastic person, she looked after my many pets, and always had time to say hello and ask how were things with my gang.

“The world has lost one of its best people.

“RIP Liz, thoughts to the family at this sad time.”

The funeral will take place tomorrow, Thursday, and The Willows Veterinary Group will be closing for the day.

A vet will be consulting between 8am and 9am for non urgent cases, after this time ring 01606 723202 for the emergency service.
