A NEW system to help residents local crime levels has been launched by Cheshire Police.
The online Crimemapper gives users the option to view crime statistics in for the county or any town or village in Cheshire.
With figures updated once a month, statistics are given for burglary, robbery, vehicle crime, violence and anti-social behaviour in the last 12 months as well as a year-on-year comparison.
Crime date can be downloaded and each area is given an overall crime rating compared to the rest of the county.
A section is also available for visitors to find out more, including contact details for their local neighbourhood policing unit (NPU) and what its current priorities are.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said the move forms part of the force’s committment to the policing pledge under which police are expected to answer calls promptly, give people up-to-date local crime details and improve their treatment of witnesses and victims.
He said: “As part of our commitment we have launched a new area on our website which displays local crime information on interactive maps.
“The maps allow you to see where incidents have happened, how crime is being tackled, what crimes are causing a problem in your area and how we are working to stop them.”
The Crimemapper can be found at cheshire.crimemap per.co.uk/.
