Projects will be lasting legacy

A LIST of projects has been drawn up as the lasting legacy of a council nearing the end of its life.

Vale Royal Borough Council is looking to secure its name for the future as it commemorates its achievements past and present.

A total of 20 major projects have been listed as those that the council will lead or complete in its final months before handing over power to the new Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) on April 1.

Among these projects are the governance review of Davenham and Northwich, Winsford Lifestyle Centre, Winsford Learning Zone and a design for the Northwich Cultural Centre.

The Winnington urban village also crops up on the list, among plans for honorary aldermen, a skills academy at Rudheath High School and the Lion Salt Works restoration.

The Guardian will be examining the schemes on the legacy list in more detail over the coming weeks.

Other successful projects that the council has completed in its 35-year lifetime will also form its legacy, which may include schemes like the mines stabilisation in Northwich town centre.

Commemorative plaques have been designed to mark and celebrate all of the council’s long-standing achievements.

“Projects such as the mines stabilisation scheme in Northwich and the soon to open Winsford Lifestyle Centre will continue to provide enormous benefit to local people.”
