WATERWAYS bosses have blamed recent bad weather for the stranding of a boat in Northwich.
The Adventurine of Skye was stuck in the River Weaver for almost two days when it ran aground on an unexpected sandbank.
A spokesman for British Waterways said: “Heavy rains have washed a large amount of silt from the River Dane into the Weaver immediately below the confluence of the two rivers and this has quickly built up into a sandbank.”
He added: “We are working with the owner of the vessel to secure a passage down river as soon as is practicable.”
The Adventurine of Skye became quite an attraction for passers by after she got stuck in the middle of the channel, just past Town Bridge, on Thursday.
The vessel was finally set free at 4pm on Friday and returned to Northwich Marine.
