NORTHWICH based manufacturer Brunner Mond has opened a new plant in the Netherlands.

The new hi-tech plant in Delfzijl will create dozens of jobs and increase the company’s production of sodium bicarbonate by 50,000 tonnes per year.

As well as strengthening our manufacturing base in the Netherlands, this plant builds on our success in marketing sodium bicarbonate from our UK plant.

John Melia, Brunner Mond’s sodium bicarbonate business manager

John Melia, Brunner Mond’s sodium bicarbonate business manager, said: “As well as strengthening our manufacturing base in the Netherlands, this plant builds on our success in marketing sodium bicarbonate from our UK plant. It will allow us to continue growing our product and meeting worldwide demand efficiently.”

Last year, Brunner Mond announced a £10 million investment in another new sodium bicarbonate manufacturing facility at Northwich East, due to be commissioned in 2009.
