A MUM who makes cakes for the stars is opening a new bakery and dessert shop selling waffles, crepes, milk shakes and smoothies.

Celebrities and TV presenters have hired Lisa Russett for special events and her cupcakes have featured in Vogue, OK and Now magazines as well as on BBC’s Don’t Tell The Bride and BBC Breakfast.

The 39-year-old has baked for Beyonce’s tour, made cakes for Jordan’s hen party and reality TV stars Sam and Billie Faiers from The Only Way is Essex.

Baker Lisa, crowned cupcake queen of Liverpool, has also made christening cakes for Coronation Street’s Alan Halsall’s son and Helen Skelton’s baby.

A dream has now come true for the mum-of-two as she opens Pretty Princess Cakes & Bakes on Post Office Place, the walkway between Sainsbury’s and the library, on Tuesday.

“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” said Lisa, who has a daughter Abby, 12, and eight-year-old son Tyler.

“My kitchen wasn’t big enough and you never feel like you’re out of work.”

Lisa developed a passion for baking before she started school.

“When I was little I baked with my nan, she taught me everything,” said Lisa, who moved to Northwich from Widnes in October. “I still use the recipe she gave me. It’s all down to what butter you use.

“Sadly, we lost my nan Daisy Ince, who was in her 90s, but she would be awfully proud of me.”

Daisy, 94, from Wilmere Lane, Widnes, died aged 94.

Girls from Manchester Roller Derby team will be skating through town giving cakes away at a launch party on Saturday, September 15 as England Rugby League and Warrington Wolves rugby player Stefan Ratchford poses for selfies on the shop’s new chalk wall.

“I want to give people nice treats,” said Lisa. “As well as my bespoke celebration and wedding cakes I will also have a cupcake and brownie counter.

“Alongside this I’ll be selling waffles and crepes with every possible topping plus milkshakes, freakshakes, smoothies and healthy vegan clean treat range.

“I am really into the gym and thought: ‘I can’t keep eating cake all the time’ so now make a healthy option – dairy free, vegan free and no refined sugar using nuts and fruits.”

Lisa wasn’t thinking of calories when she married her husband Daryl, 31, in February.

“I made two wedding cakes and we had a whole American dessert table with cupcakes, brownies, shortbread, doughnuts, meringues and chocolate covered strawberries,” she said. “I’ve never seen so many desserts in my life!”

Lisa is now looking forward to a new tier in her life as she plans to recruit staff and grow her business.

“I’ve found the perfect shop on a walkway with a lot of people passing,” added Lisa. “There are a lot of nice shops, lovely boutiques, bars and restaurants opening. I think the town is on the up.”
