A CAR engine 'blew up' in Manchester Road this morning, Monday.
A fire engine from Northwich station was sent to the scene in Lostock Gralam at 11.23am.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Firefighters were called to a report of smoke coming from a vehicle's engine on Manchester Road in Lostock Gralam.
"On arrival the crew discovered that the engine had blown up.
"Firefighters cooled the engine down and made sure it was safe before leaving.
"They were in attendance for around 20 minutes."
