A FURTHER six large family homes are to be built at the Grange Farm development on Chester Road in Hartford.

The four to five bedroom dwellings are part of a three phase development which will see up to 300 properties on the 0.32 hectare site.

The original plan for 10 properties has been revised to include six detached, two-storey houses with an integral or detached double garage with additional parking on the driveway.

Cheshire West and Chester Council approved the development on August 14.

Hartford Grange Residents' Action Group said the proposal was a 'vast improvement' on the original application.

But residents raised concern over the loss of play and open space.

In a report to the planning committee, councillors were told that it has always been accepted that this area of land was going to be developed in some form.

The report added: "There is no denying that the development of this currently undeveloped space would illicit a radical change in outlook from the surrounding properties. However it is not considered to amount to any unacceptable shadowing or overbearing impact."

Phase one of the housing scheme is nearing completion and phase two is underway.

Four of the dwellings would be accessed from a proposed service road with the remaining two fronting on to Albemarle Avenue.
