AN elderly woman was blown away by the kindness of the Northwich M&S staff while doing her weekly shop on her birthday.

Brenda Kenworthy, from Comberbach, is a regular shopper at the Northwich Marks & Spencer and has built up a close relationship with staff there over the years.

Not wanting to let her 85th birthday get in the way of her weekly trip into town, Brenda went to M&S for her food shop on Thursday, July 12th.

When she arrived, Brenda was met with a birthday reception that moved her close to tears.

“I went into the shop and the staff made such a fuss,” Brenda said.

“They all got together in a row, all the staff and even the managers, and they sang happy birthday to me and gave me some beautiful flowers and a box of chocolates.

“I just thought it was really lovely and I’d like to thank them very much for all their efforts. It was a lovely thing to do.

“They’re always helpful. I go there once a week and I have to go around in a scooter so the staff there are always so helpful when I’m in there.”

Chris Harrington, food section manager at M&S Northwich, says Brenda has become part of the store’s ‘family’ and was delighted to help her celebrate.

Chris said: “Brenda has been a regular customer for years and has become part of the store family, so when we found out it was her birthday we couldn’t let it go without doing something special.

“We all know her really well and wanted to help her celebrate - we’re just so pleased she had a lovely birthday.”
