ELLIE Cushen celebrated a convincing victory on her debut for England on Saturday during the Home International Regatta.
The Northwich Rowing Club sculler was too quick for her rivals in the junior women’s single, collecting maximum points for her team.
It was the third race of a busy day’s racing at Inniscarra, near Cork.
Cushen, a former British junior champion, was clear of the field when she crossed the line.
She hopes her performance keeps her in the running for a place in the British team for the forthcoming Coupe de la Jeunesse, coincidentally also taking place in Ireland, later this month.
England went onto take first prize in three categories – senior women and both junior competitions – while the hosts took the senior men’s honours.
