THE sun shone on the 71st Whitley Rose Queen Fete on Saturday, prompting a great turnout.
Entertainment began with a parade from the school to the village hall field, with music provided by the Frodsham Silver Band.
Village children, some in vintage vehicles, looked the part in the procession before Kristie Underdown was crowned Rose Queen.
The afternoon included pre-school fancy dress competition, singing and dancing from The Greatest Showman, the tug-of-war and, last but not lease, the Great Whitley Pig Race.
Kim Cairns, acting headteacher, said: “Every year the children are so excited about the Rose Queen. We love being part of such a close community. Both children and staff had worked really hard for the show and I am sure everyone will agree that this year really was exceptional. We were so proud of our children.”
Throughout the afternoon there were games, stalls, and prizes. Last but not least the Great Whitley Pig Race and tug of war challenge took place.
