FIREFIGHTERS needed breathing apparatus to tackle a car fire off the A556 yesterday, Friday.

A fire engine from Northwich was called to the scene off Chester Road shortly after 7.15pm.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Firefighters were called to a car which was well alight on a car park at a business in Chester Road Northwich.

"Crews used a hose reel and breathing apparatus to extinguish the flames."
