RUDHEATH are set to show off their community pride with a display of 10 brightly-painted lions on show around the village this summer.

The lions will be decorated by groups and partners that have been part of the Rudheath and Witton Together project over the last two years.

Each piece of art will represent a different aspect of the community, or something that is significant to an individual group, that residents can also be proud of.

Katy Sneyd, community engagement officer for, said: “The Project is all about sharing The Pride of our Community and people being proud and excited to live in the area.

“We know that cities such as Liverpool and Chester have had similar sculptures so why should we miss out? Northwich is moving forward, and the community should embrace and celebrate that.”

Once the big cats are complete, they will be used for various celebration events in the area and during the school summer holidays will create a trail throughout Rudheath and Witton that families can follow.

The group will be working with Wild In Art, a company best known for producing various animal sculptures who create art that will ‘entertain, enrich, inform and leave a lasting legacy’ according to their website.

The blank lion statues have arrived in the village recently and are waiting for their colourful coats to be applied once the designs have been finalised.

To get the wider community involved, the group are hosting a competition for residents of Rudheath and Witton to get involved in and have their say on what should feature on these lions.

Ideas need to be sent in by June 1 and should be submitted as a design or logo to potentially be featured on one of the large lions.

Entries can be dropped off at The Venue, in Gadbrook Road, or posted to Katy Sneyd, Cheshire CDT, Waterside House, Navigation Road, Northwich. CW8 1BE
