A SECOND World War bomb was discovered in a Northwich garden yesterday afternoon, Thursday.
Police were called to Oak Street and cordoned off the area while a bomb squad examined the device.
A police spokesman said: "At around 4.45pm on Thursday, May 10, police were called to reports of a Second World War bomb being found in the garden of a house in Oak Street, Northwich.
"On arrival they set up a 25-metre cordon around the area.
"The Second World War incendiary device was x-rayed and taken away at around 6.45pm by the EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) team to be examined."
The device was found in a back garden underneath a dismantled shed, camouflaged amongst scaffolding poles.
