THE 3G sports pitch used by Warrington and Vale Royal College and Hartford High School will remain on site and operate as usual, it has been confirmed.

Warrington and Vale Royal College has announced that the majority of its Hartford campus will close as of September.

Students will be moved to campuses in Warrington and Winsford to continue their courses and 56 staff members will be made redundant.

However, there has also been questions raised by members of the public regarding facilities such as the 3G pitch.

The pitch was opened in 2016 and was a joint project between Cheshire West and Chester Council, Hartford High School, Warrington and Vale Royal College (then Mid Cheshire College) and the Cheshire Football Association.

It is used by college students, high school students and members of the public.

Following the announcement about the college campus, Cheshire West and Chester Council has stated that the pitch will continue as usual.

A council spokesman said: “There won't be any effect on the pitches. Hartford CofE High School manage and operate the 3G pitch and other grass pitches on the site and this will continue business as usual.”
