AN exhibition highlighting the artistic talents of children and adults with autism will run at Northwich Business Centre in March.

The Cheshire Autism Practical Support Charity – known as ChAPS – will stage the exhibition just before World Autism Awareness week takes place at the beginning of April.

With artwork on show from ChAPS members, resulting from a range of activities and workshops across Cheshire, will be opened by Cheshire Lord Lieutenant David Briggs on Thursday, March 22 at 5pm.

It will then run into Friday, March 23 from 1pm to 6pm and Saturday, March 24 from 10.30am to 2pm.

“Autism is the fastest growing condition in the world and now affects one in 36 people, and our aim is to raise awareness not only where we are based but nationally as well,” said ChAPS managing director Jo Garner.

“Here at ChAPS we are incredibly busy with 80 different activities put on every month thanks to a huge commitment from all of our dedicated staff.

“The children and families that we support are just amazing, particularly as they are living with some incredibly difficult situations.

“The art exhibition is one of our favourite events of the year, as it allows us to showcase some of the work produced by the fantastic people who access our services.

“The exhibition runs over three days, and is completely free of charge, and we would love to see as many visitors as possible come through the doors to take a look at the art and show their support for those who continue to live life to the full despite the challenges of autism.”
