Why should I watch..?

To see if these teams can serve up another 10-goal thriller after Squires Gate edged last month’s previous meeting 6-4.

The Villagers halted a seven-match losing sequence in the North West Counties League when they shared the spoils with Maine Road following a draw last weekend.

It was a contest they had led twice before substitute David Brown’s late leveller.

It left them still with only a single victory to their name in the Premier Division to date this season.

Squires Gate returned to winning ways at Abbey Hey’s expense last time out, and arrive in Northwich sat 13th in the standings.

New recruit Scott Harries, who counts Northwich Victoria among his previous clubs, scored twice on his first appearance.

What they’ve said

“We were hard done to at their place, and so feel we have a score to settle.

“I think we’re playing well enough to pick up points, but we’ve come unstuck through a combination of bad luck and a little naivety.

“It was tough to take last weekend; we’d been on top and controlled the tempo of the game.

“That gives us some momentum going into this weekend, when hopefully we can record a victory.”

Steve Lloyd, Barnton manager

“We 6-2 up against Barnton last time, and then let them back into the game – it was like a cricket score in the end!

“I expect us to do better if we get our noses in front this time around.

“I want us to try and get the first goal in games, and to impose ourselves in the final third.”

Andy Clarkson, Squires Gate manager

Numbers game

Man to keep an eye on

George Webster

Can the midfielder find the net for a third successive match?

He scored during last weekend’s six-goal thriller against Maine Road, which followed a double in a 4-2 defeat at Stockport County in the Cheshire FA Senior Cup in midweek.

Barnton team news

Wide man Ryan Malone and Chris Yearsley, a defender, are unavailable.

However Steve Lloyd’s options are increased by the return after injury of Jason McShane, Brandon Moores and Chris Bandell.

He is boosted too by having Adam Bayley back, while Chris Smith has been passed fit to play despite his involvement in last weekend’s draw with Maine Road ending early because of a head injury.
