NORTHWICH, Winsford and Middlewich residents are being encouraged to 'get up for Down's' again in 2018.

Following a successful first campaign last year, the Cheshire Down's Syndrome Support Group (CDSSG) is encouraging people to get active for the cause.

The challenge, which can be completed as an individual or a team, is to complete 213km or miles by running, walking, cycling or swimming in the 10 weeks leading up to World Down’s Syndrome Day on March 21.

Northwich mum Clare White, who set up the campaign, said: "During January most people make a new year’s resolution to get fit.

"The idea behind the Get Up For Down’s campaign is to encourage people not only to get active in 2018, but also raise some valuable funds for this amazing charity and also raise awareness of Down’s syndrome throughout Cheshire."

Last year more than 150 people took part in the challenge and raised £1,000.

Julie Duff, chief executive of CDSSG, added: "This is a great challenge that can be completed by anyone at their own pace – from family groups, to work colleagues, to friend groups and local community groups.

"Anyone can get together and ‘Get up for Down’s."

Entry costs £5 per person. For more information visit getupfordowns.co.uk
