NORTHWICH thespians are hoping to sweep the board at a prestigious ceremony this weekend after being nominated for an impressive 10 awards.

Members of the Mid Cheshire Musical Theatre Company (MCMTC) will attend the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) Awards for the north west at Crewe Hall on Saturday, January 13.

The nominations follow the company’s sell-out production of Sister Act in November, when standing ovation followed standing ovation after five performances.

NODA’s review of the show contained nothing but high praise for MCMTC’s performance.

Liz Cooley, from MCMTC, said receiving the nominations was a ‘huge honour’.

“It was a very challenging show, and very hard work for everyone involved,” she said.

“Even if only some of the nominations get through, it is a great feather in the cap for MCMTC, which is going from strength to strength and gaining new audiences.”

The company’s attention is now turning to a performance of Guys and Dolls in April, with more men needed for minor parts or the chorus.

New members of the backstage team are also welcome.

Rehearsals take place from 7.30pm to 10pm at University Primary Academy, in Weaverham.
