THE annual New Year’s Day Treasure Hunt event in Middlewich saw a record turnout this year.

The event saw 45 teams take part this year - the most in its 26-year history – and raised £550 for Middlewich and District Foodbank.

Cllr David Williams, member of Middlewich Town Council, is an organiser of the event, and was delighted to see the huge amount of support.

Cllr Williams said: “We did a Cluedo theme this year and laid it out basically as a big game of Cluedo but walking around the town, and everyone really enjoyed it.

“Thanks to all the people who came out and played and thanks to Middlewich traders who donated prizes and helped raise such a big amount of money on the day.

“We hope to see you all again at the same time next year.”

John Halewood, Jill Ridgeway, Sheila Taylor and Paul Hardy made up the winning team ‘WHOT+1’, who took home a free meal at the White Bear, chocolates and a bottle of bubbly.

They also claimed the coveted Christina Wakefield Shield.
