A CHESHIRE charity that supports victims of domestic abuse celebrated its 40th anniversary.

Cheshire Without Abuse (CWA), based in Crewe, offers a wide variety of advice, practical and emotional support and information through a range of clinics, recovery and support groups, counselling services and specialist children’s programmes for those who are currently or have previously experienced domestic abuse as an adult or child.

In addition to this, the charity offers crisis accommodation for women and children needing to immediately escape domestic abuse and/or violence, and ongoing one to one support services which provide aftercare to families who are subsequently re-housed.

On November 17, the CWA held their 40th Anniversary Gala Dinner at Crewe Hall, celebrating 40 years of supporting families affected by domestic abuse.

The charity was joined by the Family Law Department and other team members from Susan Howarth and Co Solicitors, a long-time supporter of the charity based in Northwich.

Rosie Howarth, from from Susan Howarth and Co Solicitors, said: “It was an absolutely fantastic evening and we were delighted to have had the opportunity to help CWA celebrate their achievements.

“It takes incredible courage for domestic abuse victims to make the decision to act and escape, which is why the services CWA offer are so vital.”

Susan Howarth has held a range of fundraising events for CWA.

Earlier this year the firm held a charity anniversary ball to celebrate 20 years in business, with again all profits going to CWA.

Rosie said: "We’ll definitely continue to support CWA throughout 2018 and are already in the early stages of planning another charity ball next year, so watch this space."
