AN Elvis tribute act from Northwich has become the star of TrustFord’s national campaign.

Dave Cain, who is general manager at TrustFord Manchester, dedicates his weekends and evenings to keeping the King of Rock ’n’ Roll alive throughout north west England.

The 39-year-old’s talents has seen him land a role as the star of TrustFord’s national campaign.

The advert draws on Dave’s talent as a professional Elvis tribute act to deliver a show-stopping service for the world’s largest Ford dealer group.

Dave said: “One definition of the word impersonator is to assume the appearance of someone. But how can you ever compare to Elvis Presley.

“Elvis once said about himself ‘It’s hard to live up to an image,’ and how right he was when you’re talking about the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

“Perhaps this is why the word impersonator in the Elvis world is seldom used.”

The video, is the first in a series of videos, highlights the way Elvis’ music penetrates Dave’s work in both stage and showroom, and has had more than 420,000 views on Facebook.

It features Dave completing a sale with Elvis’ catch-phrase ‘thank you very much’, as well as demonstrating the support of his colleagues, many of whom have been to see him perform.

Dave first encountered Elvis’ music listening to his grandparents’ vinyl records as a young child. From there, his Elvis compilation cassette became his prized possession and his love for Elvis grew.

It wasn’t until 2006 that he got the confidence boost he needed, being invited to sing on stage with a tribute artist whilst on holiday in Cyprus. From that moment, he committed his spare hours to studying documentaries, live concerts and movies, acutely aware of the necessity to pay homage to Elvis in a respectful manner when he steps into a venue as ‘David Presley as Elvis’.

The influence of Elvis on Dave’s life goes far beyond his work as a tribute act. His son, born in 2014, is named Aaron after the King himself, and his daughter, born in 2015, is named Grace.

Dave said: “Elvis has been beside me throughout my life. In good times, such as the birth of my son, where his song ‘My Boy’ took on greater significance, or in times of trouble, when songs such as ‘If I Can Dream’ have inspired me.”
