A WINSFORD venue has raised £930 for the mayor’s chosen charities.

Meadowbank Social Club, in School Road, held a 'fun fest' on August 27 in an effort to generate revenue and boost interest in the club facilities.

A raffle was held to raise funds for Winsford Youth and Community Forum, and St Luke’s Hospice with prizes donated by Blakemere Craft Centre, Adam Lamb Funk Fitness, Caked in Sugar and Jacks Hot Tubs.

Suzanne Badder, Meadowbank Social Club committee, said: “The day was a huge success with many people attending to listen to live music on the stage.

“A huge thanks goes out to all the businesses and individuals who kindly donated prizes.

“Special thanks has to go to the mayor, Cllr Mike Kennedy, the mayoress and the mayoral dog for attending and opening the day."

Cllr Mike Kennedy, Winsford Town Mayor, said: “I really enjoyed a splendid day and applaud Suzanne for her marvellous efforts in organising the event which was to raise the profile of Meadowbank Social Club as a venue for parties and events.

“My heartfelt thanks to Suzanne for donating the proceeds to my Mayor's Charities, Winsford Youth & Community Forum and St. Luke's Hospice.

“Suzanne is a real go-getter and a phenomenal organiser. Both of my charities will benefit greatly from this massive boost.”

Meadowbank Social Club is hosting a Halloween party on Friday, October 27 starting at 7.30pm.

Entry is free.
