A WINSFORD man, who is a veteran of the Cheshire Regiment, is the cover star of a new military magazine.

Bob Rawlinson, a former bandsman, is featured in the second issue of national publication Left Right Left and has talked about his experiences in the Army.

The 66-year-old initially joined up without a trade and was offered a role in the regiment’s military band as a clarinet player.

Mal Robinson, editor of Left Right Left, said, “It was fantastic to feature Bob in the magazine.

“I have close links with the Cheshire Regiment, with my Dad serving in the regiment, alongside my Uncles.

“My Dad hailed from Cheshire and so it was a delight for me to include the story of Bob and have him on the front cover.

“It’s great to remember the history of the Cheshire Regiment and of course Bob’s story is superb in its own right.”

Following a dental infection of the bones, Bob required all of his teeth to be removed and as a result had to give up the clarinet for the flute and start all over again.

The publication is distributed to troops all over the world going through the resettlement process on leaving the Armed Forces.

It is available for free on October 9 and can be accessed at pathfinderinternational.co.uk
