PROTESTORS braved the wet weather to stage a demonstration in opposition to proposed parking charges in Northwich.
Cllr Gaynor Sinar, Cheshire West and Chester Council ward member for Davenham and Moulton and chairman of Northwich BID, led the protest, which took place opposite NatWest.
The issue will be discussed in public by the council’s scrutiny committee on September 14, after Cllr Cllr Sinar called in the cabinet’s decision to press ahead with its 15-year plan.
Cllr Sinar said: “The protest had a good turn out despite the weather, many people voiced their support.
“We are looking forward to discussing alternative options at the scrutiny meeting to delay any implementation of parking charges and support our retailers and business during regeneration.”
Leading up to the meeting, Cllr Sinar and other concerned individuals have been collecting individual protest cards.
The CWAC councillor said the group have collected ‘thousands’’ from members of the public.
