A NORTHWICH care agency that provides support to people in their own homes has been given a positive report by Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspectors.

Winnington Hall Business Centre, which counts dementia, eating disorders, learning disabilities and substance misuse amongst its specialisms, was rated ‘good’ for the safety, responsiveness, and effectiveness of its services, as well as the care taken.

The inspection took place over two days in July, during which 52 people used the service, based on Winnington Lane, supported by 34 staff.

The report, the service’s first since registering with the CQC in 2016, praised the level of care at the centre, stating: “People told us they were very happy with the service provided and that the staff were caring, kind and brilliant.”

It went on: “Staff told us they enjoyed working at the service and providing support to people who used the service. They said they were supported by the office and management team.

“Care plans were well documented and up to date. They gave clear guidance to the staff team. Risk assessments were undertaken for a variety of tasks which included moving and handling, falls and the environment.”

But the report, published on August 25, also stated that the practice ‘requires improvements’ to how well-led its services are.

It highlighted that improvements were required in the audit system, staff and management communications, care staff supervision, appraisals, training and staff meetings.
