A 26-YEAR-OLD man from Northwich has died following a crash on the M6 on Saturday.
Emergency services were deployed to the M6 northbound at 8am between junction 19 at Knutsford and junction 20 at Lymm following a collision involving a car and a lorry.
The driver of the car, from Northwich, named locally as Sam Kelly, was airlifted to Aintree Hospital but he has since died, police have confirmed.
His next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers.
Police say the driver of the lorry was uninjured.
The northbound motorway was closed for a number of hours while officers carried out investigations into the crash which involved a flatbed lorry and a Vauxhall Insignia.
The southbound motorway was closed for a short period of time to allow the air ambulance to land at the scene.
