THE Lion Salt Works Museum will be hosting an action-packed summer for children.

The multi-award winning venue will hold two days of creative workshops between August 1 and 30 with a different theme being featured each week.

There will also be special one-off events during the summer such as a pirate party weekend and traditional games weekend.

Cllr Louise Gittins, cabinet member for communities and wellbeing at Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: “Parents looking for fun activities need look no further.

“Located next to the beautiful Northwich woodlands and right next to the tranquil Trent and Mersey Canal with its colourful narrowboats, the museum is the perfect place to come for the day.”

Week one, starting on Tuesday, August 1, is dragons and kingdoms. This will include tales from forgotten kingdoms, kings and queens as well as dragon mask making.

Week two is pirates and parrots. The world will be brought to life by children making swashbuckling attire of their own and includes the weekend pirate party.

Week three is go wild. Nature will be brought to life by children creating their own decorations inspired by the butterflies and nature of the museum.

Week four is let’s go to the beach. This will include activities inspired by fun on the beach.

Bank holiday weekend starting August 27 is traditional games weekend. The museum will be brining everything from coconut sky to flamingo croquet.

Week five is gone fishing. Children can explore the nature of the museum including the canal as well as fish inspired arts and crafts.

The sessions will take place every Tuesday and Wednesday between 10.30am to 1pm and 2pm to 4.30pm.

All activities are free but there is a suggested donation of £1.50 and parking is free.

The events are suitable for visitors aged up to 11.
