A 17-YEAR-OLD boy who was the victim of a viscious attack in Greenbank has been revealed as a 'kind and generous' community volunteer. 

John Johnson, from Northwich, from Hunts Lock towards Greenbank with two friends when he was followed by a large group of youths.

He was then attacked by one of the group in Saxon's Lane play area, who knocked him unconscious with a punch to the face in police descibe as a 'serious and unprovoked attack'.

John got in touch with the Guardian to share the extent of his injuries. 

He has suffered three breaks to his jaw - two on the right and one on the left. 

He underwent surgery today to get metal plates inserted. 

John volunteers his time at Greenbank Community Hub, helping out with the garden.

Stephanie Acton, community connector at the Greenbank Hub, said: “John is such a kind and generous person, he helps out with the garden at the Greenbank Community Hub and is always smiling and enthusiastic.

“We’ll miss him and send our best wishes. If people want to drop off cards or letters to the Hub I’m happy to make sure he gets them.”

Police are now investigating the incident and want to hear from anyone who thinks they may know the attacker.
