A DERBY meeting between Northwich Victoria and 1874 Northwich is a highlight of the draws published for a series of national knockout competitions on Friday.
The rivals will meet in the FA Cup extra preliminary round next month – both teams’ first competitive fixture of a new campaign.
Whoever wins can look forward to home advantage at the next stage too.
Barnton, beaten on their return to the FA Cup when they were paired with 1874 Northwich in last season’s edition, will attempt to go one better this time around.
Steve Lloyd’s side, preparing for a second season in the North West Counties League’s top-flight, travel to Parkgate in South Yorkshire.
Meanwhile Witton Albion, newly-promoted to the Northern Premier League’s Premier Division, are exempt until the first qualifying round in September.
Carl Macauley’s men have discovered their opponents in the FA Trophy, and face a testing trip to Workington – against whom they were eliminated in 2014 – in the first qualifying round.
The governing body also unveiled fixtures for the opening rounds of the FA Vase.
Northwich Victoria will host Stockport Town, a side managed by Vics’ former assistant boss Dave Wild, in the first qualifying round.
The ambitious visitors have recruited star midfielder Matty Clarke from Vics this summer as well as defender Andrew Fitzgerald – another to have turned out for Paul Moore’s men last term.
The Lions could also count on ex-Northwich men Tyler Edwards, John Pritchard, Dave Short and Dahrius Waldron when they arrive at Townfield Lane in September.
1874 Northwich are on course for a reunion with former manager Ian Street, now in charge at Congleton Town, if they can progress in the same competition.
However they must first see off West Cheshire League top-flight side Vauxhall Motors.
Congleton must overcome Squires Gate.
Barnton will host Penistone Church, from the Northern Counties East League, at the same stage.
