A FUNRAISING concert will be held at St Bede’s Church in Weaverham by four Northwich choirs, to raise money for the aid agency CAFOD.

The concert will take place in the early afternoon on Saturday, June 17, and will be followed by a picnic to unite the community as part of ‘The Great Get Together’ in memory of Jo Cox, the MP who was murdered last year.

For adults, a donation of £5 is suggested; children may attend for free.

Hosts St Bede’s Singers will be joined by St Bede’s Church Choir, St Wilfrid’s School Choir and St Bede’s School Choir, all from the newly merged parish of St John Vianney.

Jessica Marshall, the event’s organiser, said: “We hope the concert and picnic will help to strengthen the bonds within our community and raise money for two very important causes.

“By raising money for CAFOD we want to make a difference, while showing our thanks for the generosity of the church and Father Paul, a keen CAFOD volunteer, who allows us to use the church free of charge for rehearsals.”

The aid agency CAFOD aims to help those living in extreme poverty by equipping them with useful skills to enable them to support their families and contribute to the community.

The money raised by the local Northwich community will be sent wherever the need is currently greatest; be it Africa, Asia, Latin-America or the Middle East. Anyone wishing to attend the concert and support the cause should bring a picnic to St Bede’s Church ready for the concert to begin at 2pm.
