PUPILS and staff at Barnton Community Nursery and Primary School are celebrating after striking gold.
The school was given a Gold Award for its work towards the Primary Science Quality Mark, and is one of the first schools in Cheshire West to have received the award.
The scheme develops and celebrates the quality of science teaching and learning in primary schools.
The Primary Science Quality Award is awarded to celebrate a commitment to excellence in science teaching and learning.
Head teacher Annette Williams said: “We are so proud of all we do here at Barnton and this achievement is amazing.
“A huge thanks to Emma Boyd, who has led us on this journey and, in partnership with Team Barnton, achieved this prestigious Gold Science award – fantastic.”
Jane Turner, PSQM National Director said: “Gaining a Primary Science Quality Award is a significant achievement for a school.
“The profile and quality of science teaching and learning in each awarded school is very high.
“Children are engaging with great science both in and outside the classroom, developing positive attitudes towards science as well as secure science understanding and skills.
“Science subject leaders, their colleagues, head teachers, children, parents and governors should be very proud.”
