A BUS service from Winsford to Chester is close to being reintroduced, according Winsford and borough councillor Brian Clarke.

The service which went through Winsford to Chester, was axed in 2015, but Cllr Clarke says talks are now progressing well to get the service back running with Arriva.

Cllr Clarke said: “It was taken off around two years ago because it wasn’t viable. But I didn’t agree at the time.

“If you aren’t getting enough people using a service each day, cut it down to one or two days, and you will see that everyone who used it throughout the week will probably use the service on those days and it will be well used.

“It came from a group of retired women I call the Golden Girls who go swimming at the Lifestyle Centre on a Friday and go into Weatherspoon’s for a coffee after. I often chat to them and one time they asked about petitioning for the service to Chester.

“I said, instead of petitioning, send me letters asking for it and get as many people to do the same. I’ve now had more than 120 and they’re still coming.

“So CWAC officers are now in talks with bus operators.”
