MORE than 2,500 people flocked to see Vikings invade Anderton Boat Lift.
Duty manager Graham Wood said: “This was a tremendously successful weekend, and I have heard nothing but positive feedback about the weekend.
“I am delighted that more than 2,500 visitors came to this free event, and we very much hope to hold the Viking Weekend again next year.
“Visitors young and old, enjoyed asking questions and finding out about Viking life, but the real show-stealer was the noise, excitement and action of the Viking battle at the end of the afternoon.”
The event saw the grounds of the Boat Lift transformed into a Viking settlement with free displays and demonstrations.
Staged by Y Ddraig Warriors of Stoke-on-Trent, each day ended with a ‘live’ battle.
Visitors were encouraged to look around Y Ddraig’s (the dragons) living history exhibition and ask questions and try out their armour and equipment.
