A NORTHWICH Town Council worker has been slapped with a fine from police after being spotted driving a lawn mower while using his mobile phone.
The council worker was driving along Victoria Road on a council lawn mower when police pulled him over for using his mobile phone.
He received a £200 fine and a six-point penalty on his licence.
A police spokesman said: “He was using his mobile phone while driving, not phoning someone, but using the touch screen.
“As a result he was given a Traffic Offence Report, points on his licence and a fine.”
Northwich Town Council did not want to give any comment.
This comes after new laws were introduced in March, meaning greater penalties for drivers caught using a mobile phone while driving.
