YOUNGSTERS in Cuddington now have an outdoor space to enjoy their love of reading.

Cuddington Primary School held the grand opening of the Reading Shed at the school last month.

The Reading Shed was built by the school’s maintenance officer, Mike Brian, out of recycled wood.

Stephanie Riley, reception teacher, said: “The idea behind the reading shed is to promote the love of reading.

“The children love playing in the reading area inside, but when the weather is nice they all want to be outside.

“So we decided to build the reading shed so they can go cosy up with the cushion and read to one another or by themselves.”

The shed currently holds around 35 to 40 books, which will be rotated regularly.

All of the books were donated by parents of the school’s children.

A number of parents attended the grand opening to try out the new shed with their children.

Miss Riley said: “The parents loved to share their books with the children. It was a really lovely afternoon.

“It went really well.”
