A BARNTON man is due to appear in court next month after being charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

The 39-year-old from Rowan Rise was charged on Thursday, April 20, after forensic evidence linked him with a large amount of cocaine which police intercepted near to the border with north Wales in October last year.

Police stopped a Red Renault Van on the A55 Dobshill Chester on October 2, 2016, and recovered a holdall containing between £2,800 and £3,800 worth of cocaine.

A 56-year-old driver from the Liverpool area was arrested and bailed pending further enquiries.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “As a result of further police enquires, a 39-year-old male from an address in Rowan Rise, Barnton, was arrested on January 18, on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cocaine.

“He has been linked to the drugs through forensic evidence obtained from the recovered items.”

He was also bailed whilst the enquiry was concluded.

Both men were charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine on April 20 and will appear at Chester Magistrates Court on May 24.
