A NORTHWICH resident has called for action over repeated fly-tippers.

Despite recycling bins being present at a communal rubbish point, one of several in Heber Walk, members of the public dump rubbish on the floor, causing issues with its collection.

Michael Lanham claims it has not been collected by bin men for two months.

He said: “This is effecting all of our residents now because we are having things like rats and mice.

“Children and mums and dads and other people walk through here every day to look at this every time as there is no gates up. So all the rubbish blows on to the street.

“The recycling boxes that are there don’t get used by anyone in the flats.

“Many of the residents in the houses have talked about putting up CCTV or taking down the shed totally and relocating somewhere else down the street.”

Mr Lanham said the issue has been happening for years. He said Cheshire West and Chester Council and Muir Housing, which manages a number of properties in the area, have never resolved the issue.

Michael said: “Our own housing officers don’t come out to it because it’s an ongoing problem all the time. And hasn’t stopped yet. This has been happening for years.

“As a kid I used to clean the bin store spending hours brushing and tiding it up making it tidy.”

Graham Pink, CWAC’s director of commissioning places and commercial management, said the council has requested the waste is removed ‘as soon as possible’.

He said: “We have recently worked with Muir Housing to introduce new recycling containers to this communal area. These have been well received by the residents and we have not had any reports of waste issues.

"We will continue to work with Muir Housing to improve the area for residents.”

Muir Housing were not available for comment at the time of going to press.
