A SERIES of fundraising events will take place later this month to help raise £64,000 to repair the tower of St John's in Sandiway.

On Friday, April 28, an informal concert of Strings, Sauvignon & Savouries will take place in the church, from 7.30pm.

The concert will feature the internationally acclaimed violinists Sophie Rosa and Peter Chiang and cello players Andrew and Cecily Nesbitt.

Light baroque, classical, folk, theatre, and virtuoso pieces will be performed during the evening.

On Saturday, April 29, The Ark cafe, which is at the side of St Johns church hall, will be open for freshly ground coffee and cakes, from 10am to 12pm.

Live music will also be performed by young musicians.

Later that day, from 2.30pm to 5.30pm, guest are invited to sing Vivaldi’s Gloria under the baton of conductor Marcus Williams.

This will be performed in concert at 7pm in the church, followed by items by The Vale Royal Recorder Consort, Sandiway and Cuddington community choir and St John's church choir.

Tickets for the Come and Sing event, which includes a buffet tea and refreshments, costs £10. Under 18s £5.

Tickets for the evening concert costs £5 payable at the door. Under 18s £2.50. Includes interval refreshments.

On Sunday, April 30, the church will be open for refreshments from 2pm to 4pm. Donations are welcome.

The weekend concludes with a service of thanksgiving for music at 6.30pm. All are welcome.
