A CUDDINGTON couple who have a total of 33 great-grandchildren have celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Beryl and Jim Lyons, from Cuddington, married in Warrington in 1957.

They have nine children, 27 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

“It is just magic,” Beryl, 77, said. “We have wonderful children and partners, and great grandchildren and grandchildren.

"We see them all the time, they are wonderful.

“From having the first at 17, it just comes naturally. It’s a long time but it doesn’t really feel that long. It’s gone by in a flash.

"I’m looking forward to the next 10 years to celebrate that as well.”

Beryl and Jim, who suffers from dementia, celebrated their diamond wedding last week with their children.

Beryl said: “It was absolutely wonderful. To be able to celebrate with the family was just what we needed. It was superb.”

Beryl and Jim's son, Michael Lyons, is delighted his mum and dad are still going strong after all these years.

Michael, 57, said: “They’ve had their ups and downs like everybody, but it’s smashing they’re still together.

"I’m made up for them."
