SUPER Salt Saturday at the Lion Salt Works Museum was an action-packed start to British Science Week, attracting large crowds of all ages.
They enjoyed the chance of making salty bath bombs, attending science-themed workshops, watching salt boiling as well as enjoying a performance by Mid-Cheshire College’s students.
In conjunction with Animate!, a Saltscape project, these students devised and drew inspiration from the Lion Salt Works to create an imaginative and thought-provoking performance that sensitively evoked a sense of belonging and place.
Katherine West, Museum and Arts Manager, said: “This amazing event was a real celebration of salt and the important part it plays in modern science.
"The Lion Salt Works is a great place to kick off British Science Week because in a very tangible way, it connects what is below our feet in Cheshire with the industry we have around us.
"What’s more, thanks to our volunteers and partners it was a huge amount of fun. I think this will become a permanent fixture of the museum’s calendar.”
