PARENTS are invited to have their say on plans by Cheshire West and Chester Council to expand the age range at Comberbach Primary School.

“The proposal aims to ensure the council meets its obligation to ensure a sufficiency of high quality, locally-provided early years education and childcare for three to four-year-olds, and follows a request from the governing body of the school,” said a council spokesman.

The informal public consultation period will run for four weeks, from February 27 to Sunday, March 26, and an open consultation event is scheduled to be held at the school on Wednesday, March 8 between 3pm and 6pm.

If the outcome of the consultation processes is positive it is hoped the age change will be able to take effect from September.

Cllr Nicole Meardon, Cabinet Member for Children and Families: “Ensuring all of our children and young people are supported to get the best start in life is one of our top priorities.

“This includes increasing primary school provision to ensure we have the right number of school places in the right locations to meet the needs of a growing population, whilst at the same time, supporting parental choice.”
