AN 86-YEAR-OLD man was taken to hospital after collapsing in the middle of the road in Northwich.

Cheshire Police received a call just after 4.30pm yesterday after the elderly man was discovered in the middle of the road next to his bike, just ouside The Greenbank pub.

It was initially thought the man had been knocked over by another vehicle.

However police confirmed the man collapsed. He was handed over to paramedics and was taken to hospital.

A police spokesman said: “We initially received a report at 4.34pm about a man who had been knocked off his bike outside The Greenbank pub in Chester Road, Northwich.

“Upon further investigation it was concluded that it wasn’t a road traffic collision. The man had collapsed in the road.

“He was taken to hospital to be assessed. No-one else was involved.”
