TO celebrate National Storytelling Week, David Wilson Homes North West hosted a story session for Winnington Park Primary School pupils at one of its local show homes.

Children from Year one enjoyed an hour of traditional stories told by professional storyteller Sue Allbony at the Winnington Village development.

National Storytelling Week aims to promote the oral tradition of storytelling and creative thinking.

Set up by the Society for Storytelling, the initiative is celebrated by all ages, and takes place in schools, care homes, museums, hospitals and more throughout the UK.

Designed to be educational, interactive and fun for school children, Sue Allbony's tales included the traditional stories: ‘Mrs McTaggart and the Porridge Trouble’ and ‘Mohini Tricks the Scary Monster’.

Pupils were given props to help bring the stories to life and contributed with enthusiasm throughout the session.

Winnington Park Primary School teacher Jo Flower said: “The stories told by Sue kept our pupils transfixed and the session was enjoyed by all.

“We are delighted to have participated in National Story Telling Week with David Wilson Homes as it gave us an opportunity to further enrich our outstanding literacy teaching.

“We look forward to working with the team again in the future.”
