WINCHAM villagers are being urged to come and hear about the latest plans for the Black Greyhound site in Wincham.

Countrywide Investments has been seeking to redevelop the site of the derelict Black Greyhound since submitting initial plans in February 2015.

An application for 17 houses was submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council, but subsequently withdrawn.

A revised scheme was submitted last July, involving demolishing the pub and the other buildings on the site and building eight houses and a doctor’s surgery, with first floor six apartments, but that scheme was also withdrawn.

The agent for the developers has asked to come to next week’s meeting of Wincham Parish Council to speak about the latest plans for the boarded-up pub site.

“We are pleased we are being kept in the loop by the developers, and would like people to come along to hear what they are suggesting to Cheshire West and Chester Council in relation to the site,” said parish councillor Annie Makepeace.

“It’s heart-breaking to see the site in its current condition, and residents are very depressed and saddened by it.

“We desperately want to see the site being redeveloped, but cannot make decisions over planning applications but only make recommendations to Cheshire West and Chester Council.”

The meeting is on Wednesday, February 22, at Wincham Community Centre, and starts at 7.30pm.

Wincham Parish Council opposed a revised scheme for the land as the site was within the Green Belt, and there were no circumstances in relation to the plans which could be considered exceptional to allow an infringement of the Green Belt.
