STAFF from Victoria Infirmary in Northwich and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford worked together on a ‘Ride to Remember’ to raise money for Leighton Hospital.
Staff helped raise £364.63 which will go towards a dementia friendly garden, which will be joined onto ward four at the hospital.
The fundraising event took place on Thursday, January 26, and Friday, January 27, with staff invited to take a 10-minute turn on the stationary cycle.
Staff from other centres around Cheshire were also invited to take turns.
The 10 minutes was chosen to represent the time it is thought in which three people in the UK could have developed dementia.
The event was organized by the Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity.
Laura Riddle, charity manager, said: “We are very grateful to the Health and Wellbeing Team for choosing to hold this event in support of the Dementia-friendly garden and raise awareness of the appeal.
“We would like to thank everyone who took part and donated to raise this fantastic sum.”
Through creating a landscaped dementia-friendly garden connected to ward four, Leighton Hospital hopes to provide a calm and peaceful environment for our older patients and those with a cognitive impairment.
It is hoped to be an enjoyable area for patients and their families to either go for a stroll or sit quietly away from the hustle and bustle of the ward.
