A NORTHWICH shoe repair shop is urging the community to use a free dry cleaning service for people looking to get back on their feet.

Timpson, which has 500 stores nationwide, launched the service in 2015 across its entire UK portfolio.

However, not many people have taken advantage of the service in Northwich.

Mark Yould, manager of the Witton Street store, said: “When it first came out we had all the posters up.

“We did about six or seven in the first couple of months and we’ve done about a dozen over the last couple of years.

“Not a huge amount of people take advantage of it really, most of the ones we did is when we first started.”

In order to use the service all people need to do is pop into the store with the clothes that they want to be dry cleaned, and Timpsons’ staff will take over.

Mark said: “You don’t have to bring your P45, just come in, tell the staff and they will take it from there. The only thing we ask for is if you get the job, just let us know.

“If they come in with their suit or outfit, just bring it, say you have an interview and we will have it dry cleaned. They will be treated like a normal customer.”

Mark was one of the early members of the Facebook group, Northwich in Need, which was set up to help the growing homeless community in the town.

Following the formation of the group, Mark and his staff made several donations to the Salvation Army store Northwich.

And now Mark and James Timpson, managing director of Timpson, hope more people will take advantage of the free service in 2017.

Mark said: “It’s just giving people that little bit when you need that life and that boost.

“James is very big in giving people just enough assistance where they can help themselves, to given them that boost and that extra bit of confidence. It does help people.

“Northwich is up and coming, so hopefully people will have a little extra to help out others.”
