LEGENDARY 60s band The Merseybeats are performing in Northwich to support families across Cheshire and Merseyside.

The charity show is taking place on St Patrick’s Day, Friday, March 17, at the Memorial Court, in aid of Relate Cheshire and Merseyside.

“We have had three very successful annual concerts on the Wirral,” said Lin Foley, who has been working with Relate for the past three years in developing retail charity shops and organising charity concerts.

“We have had many requests to hold a concert in Northwich, so this is our first concert in March, which we hope will be the start of many.

“The legendary band from the 60s, The Merseybeats, will be headlining the concert, supported by The 68's.

“The leader of The Merseybeats, Tony Crane, is very supportive of the work which is undertaken by Relate, and the band always make themselves available to perform at the Relate charity events.

The show starts at 7.30pm, and tickets are available from the box office on 01606 261100 at £19.50.

The Merseybeats scored their first major hit in 1963 with ‘It’s Love That Really Counts,’ followed in 1964 by their million-selling recording ‘I Think of You’, which earned them their first gold disc.

They had two more big hits, ‘Don’t Turn Around’ and ‘Wishin’ and Hopin’, and appeared with The Beatles on more occasions than any other band from that era.
