NOMINATIONS are being sought for a community hero who has gone out of their way to help others.

The call for nominations comes from Katie Coburn, the manager at Asda in Northwich, which is organising a competition to find a person who has gone the extra mile.

The store opened recently at the Barons Quay development at Northwich, and the winner of the competition will be rewarded with £200 to spend on George clothing.

Katie said: “We want our store to be at the very heart of the community, and we feel that it’s important to acknowledge those people who have gone the extra mile to help others in the local area.

“We can’t wait to welcome the community hero to our store and thank them for all that they’ve done.”

Asda Barons Quay is searching for a person in the community who has acted selflessly during 2016.

The recently-opened store is reaching out to people of all ages in the Northwich area, to nominate and reveal an individual whose good deeds may have otherwise gone unnoticed.

The chosen winner will be invited down to the Northwich store on the evening of Tuesday, January 17 after 5.30pm to collect their well-deserved prize and celebrate with the Asda team.

Nominees of all ages are welcome for consideration, and entries are being accepted up to 4pm on Saturday, January 14.

Entries can be sent via email to rachel.toner@havas.com, or in the post to Good Deed Appeal, Havas PR, 3rd floor, 52 Princess Street, Manchester, M1 6JX.

More information can be found at asda.com/barons-quay.

The store donated gift sets of George hats, gloves and scarves as surprise presents for 50 members of the Community Compass group at their Christmas party at the Dingle Centre.

The group is funded by charity Brightlife, which tackles loneliness and social isolation among over-50s.

Katie Coburn said: “The team at Brightlife and Community Compass do a fantastic job of engaging with the elderly and tackling loneliness at what can be a very sad time of year for some.

“We wanted to donate some gifts to make their Christmas party extra-special.”
